BARD’S SONG

                            By Shelby Lee Chandler II

Phoenix

Fiery phoenix, soar the skies,

Travel where’er you may,

For where you go, your presence known,

For you shine the light of day.

Intense heat from you body flow,

You’re an entity of fire,

A symbol of eternal life,

Of power and desire.

Where is your birth, how long ago?

For you, many eons passes,

And why when you die, by flames consumed,

You’re reborn from your ashes.

Endless life, is it your curse,

Or a blessing in disguise,

And are you real, are you alive,

Or just a vision in our eyes.

Fiery phoenix, soar the skies,

And fly where’er you feel,

For where you go, may you always know,

That the gods and mortals kneel.
