BARD’S SONG By Shelby Lee Chandler II |

How Blinding is the Night
How blinding is the night, For as much as you see, you truly see nothing, So distant each star, and chained as we are, Unfettered only by mind and heart, An awareness so deep and confusing.
What master holds me to this earth? Please free my shell that I may soar unchained, To seek and find, these dreams I bind, For then as one leave home behind, To feel each point of light unclaimed.
The dream of sailing that endless sea, A nearing hope, to be this true, And each island met, with no regret, May hold another life, I bet, With contacts to another few.
Oh master that be who holds me fast, Why do you look to me as your slave? For if I am not free, then my fate to be, Will be a meaningless pit of blackness to me, And unrest will I find when I am laid to my grave.
For somewhere out there, another is chained, And though shackled down, looks up to the night, Daring to be, unchallenged and free, With hope to find us, and with hope to see, That the knowledge we trade, we broaden our sights.
Where be the master of my chain, Hear my cry and hear it well! That to soar the night, and become a light, A light of endless knowledge bright, Is a dream I wish to live and tell.
How blinding is the night, For as much as I see, I want to learn something, That I may blind the night, in a brilliant light, With the knowledge attained from my celestial flights, Daring to learn life’s hidden meaning, That hides deep in the night.
