BARD’S SONG By Shelby Lee Chandler II |

Avalon
Oh Avalon, you still live on, In the writings of mankind, Though the fears of man have left your land, In the past so far behind.
This magic land of forest stands, In the charge of Oberon, Where real may seem, what you can dream, Where the Celtic gods live on.
From times along, you were the song, That many minstrels sing, Where the faeries roam, and the hidden home, Of Arthur, the returning king.
In ancient lores, you hidden door, Were open to mortal kind, But the ideas of man and his confused plan, To rid you left him blind.
Human vision, brings division, And leaves man in discord, And in his mind, he seeks to find, An answer through a sword.
But many here do see things clear, That your mysterious land’s a treasure, That the knowledge there within your care, Is beyond our mortal measures.
As ignorance dies, our dreams they cry, That you be with us evermore, To open your ways, and forever stay, As you did in ancient lores.
Oh Avalon, you still live on, In the dreams of all mankind, So open your doors to us once more, And leave the past behind.
